Squirrel with a Gun: Trailer

A squirrel? With a gun?

Who comes up with these ideas?

There really is a game coming where the playable character is a squirrel. Who seems to be carrying big guns. Too big, some might say.

So if you have been praying for a Squirrel Simulator to see the light of day, then this must be your game.

As this blog focuses on animals in games I'm thrilled. And I especially like games which don't take themselves too seriously.

So humans beware, there's a new rodent in town.

Squirrel with a Gun will be released for consoles and PC in fall 2024.

My time at Sandrock: Commissions, commissions...!

I get commissions (pun intended) for purchases made through the links in this blog post.

Can there be too many commissions?

I feel like I'm at my wit's end. Closing in on burnout.

I have experienced this before. Back at Portia. I was so stressed then, and worked too much.

This time I promised myself to take it easy. That I would take my time, and not hurry through everything.

It did work out, up until to a certain point.

Unlike in Portia, in Sandrock you can work on commissions also on the weekends. Because Yan found a workaround for those pesky labor laws... And you can take multiple commissions at the same time. So there's no rest for the wicked.

Suddenly I found myself dreaming of an early retirement.

To be able to do that I needed my workshop to reach 5 stars, but then I found out how many reputation points are required for a 5 star workshop: 25 000. And to my horror I realized that despite all of my hard work I'm not even halfway there. I feel like giving up. (EDIT: The trophy popped when I reached 19 000 points!)

So maybe it's time for a rage quit? Seriously, what kind of a genius comes up with a weapon named ragequit, made out of a keyboard?

I decided to do a little bit of spring cleaning. All the old and outdated clothes had to go. I nearly strained my back carrying those rag piles to the shop. And did I even get a good price on them? I don't think so. But the only thing I'm ever going to wear is the most beautiful gown I have found. So what if it is labeled as a wedding dress?

I also had boxes full of unread books. Most of them are surprisingly short ones, but I still don't have time to read them. So why should I keep them around? I did find a couple of useful books. One of them (Xiaohongshu) I gave to Pablo as a gift, and he liked it very much. Apparently only him and me have some taste around Sandrock.

And the other book (Around the World in However Many Days) I gifted to Mort, who just happens to be my secret love. Oops, did I just spill the beans? It hurts my heart to know that this love will forever be unrequited.

And then I just had to play with fire. Are the bachelors really that blind? I hear they get jealous if they catch you on a date with someone else. But that's it? What if I kiss my lover while my other lover is watching?

I had to test it, with Unsuur and Ernest. I'm romancing both of them.

No reaction. No anger. No losing of relationship points. Everything carries on as normal. No one has jilted me. They really are that oblivious. Poor fellas.

Yes, I am the village bicycle. Qi, Unsuur and Ernest so far. I'm working on Fang, and planning on Logan (he hasn't arrived yet).

But which bachelor I'm going to marry? Stay tuned for more posts about My time at Sandrock. Or check out the previous posts.

I Love Finding Cats: Review & gameplay (PS5)

I Love Finding Cats is one of the many hidden object games where the focus is on finding cats from different environments. In this game you get to search for cats in beautiful settings from around the world.

I love finding cats collectors edition game

There are not that many cats to be found in I love finding cats. In fact you spend most of the time looking for items that are not cats. This was sort of disappointing.

But luckily there's some variety to the gameplay. Besides looking for cats  the game also has some jigsaw puzzles, all naturally featuring cute cats. The puzzles might seem a bit daunting at first, but when you get the hang of it they are actually quite simple.

Although this puzzle with maneki-nekos did feel like a nightmare for some reason. Too many of them, I guess.

There's also a bonus feature to the game. When you find cats you get points, and with this "currency" you can adopt cats, suppposedly to accompany you during your travels.

Since English isn't my first language, some items were difficult to find for me because I simply didn't know what the names of the items meant. Normally my English skill is enough to play games in English, but not this time. For example I didn't know what is a garland or a toucan or a cupola or a hollyhock or a bunting.

For me the highlight of the game must have been this level, where something related to my favorite game was lurking...

From technical point of view, on PS5 the cursor moved way too fast for my liking. I found it easier to reduce its sensitivity.

It is disappointing that this game does not have a platinum trophy. It is also said that some trophies might be buggy. And I still don't know how to get a golden star, which is required for a couple of trophies.

If you want to challenge your brain, then this game is for you. The puzzles become harder as the game progresses, so I love finding cats is not suitable for impatient people. Like me.

In summary: too few cats, too much other crap. Also in my opinion, the game's regular price is too high for this type of a game.

Even though I love cats I personally won't be playing any more games of this I love finding... series.

If you just want to find lots of cats, and not other things, then I suggest trying some other cat themed hidden object games, such as A Building Full of Cats, A Castle Full of Cats or Hidden Cats in London

Here's a short gameplay video of I Love Finding Cats! - Collector's Edition (PS5).

Will there be a Watch Dogs movie?

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

I happen to love the first Watch Dogs game. Yes, just the first. The sequels haven't exactly filled me with joy.

As doesn't this piece of news. Reportedly there's a Watch Dogs movie in the works

But what makes it a Watch Dogs movie? The name? The main character?

Actress Sophie Wilde is "in talks" to star in this movie. Now I don't know about you, but I don't remember Aiden Pearce being a woman.

The rest of the cast is not yet known, as is not the release date.

I have heard nasty comments about the first Watch Dogs game. Something about it being too dark and depressive. But for me it was a very enjoyable game, which I played through more than once.

And the online play was a suspenseful addition. You could never know if some other person was hacking in your game. Following you. Spooky.

If the main character is not Aiden Pearce, then it's not a Watch Dogs movie for me. Sorry not sorry.

Resident Evil 2: Biorand randomizer

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

I started a website for Resident Evil in 1999, so it's pretty obvious that I am a big fan of these horror games. Or at least I used to be.

My favorite games of the series are the original RE2 and RE4. I still haven't played Resident Evil 4 Remake, gonna have to wait for the price to go down.

From Twitch streams I learned that there is a really fun and funny randomizer mod for the original Resident Evil games 1, 2 and 3. You can download it for free from Biorand's website.

The randomizer has many customization options. You can randomize playable characters, enemies, items and even doors. And it's being constantly updated, adding new content.

I don't even remember how many years it's been since I last played the original Resident Evil 2 game which I love, or played any game on the computer at all. To put it mildly, I had some issues with the controls, even though I was playing with a PS5 controller.

My first Biorand randomizer playthrough

I chose Claire's A-scenario, and got Nemesis as a playable character, who doesn't have many different voice lines.

When two fatties met, both got stuck.

Sherry's terrible destiny was to be Marvin.

I have a bad feeling about this...

Claire, on the other hand, was on duty as both Leon and Sherry. Claire had been very worried about Nemesis, and had been looking for him.

Regina: What's this for?

Nemesis: STARS!

Nemesis on radio: ÖRR

Claire: I'm on my way

Jake's (Anette's) last words: Still alive? Good.

Streaming PC gameplay?

I had thought that I wouldn't be able to stream from a computer, or record gameplay in general. I thought you need to have a capture card for that, but that's not the case.

I first tried using the Screen recorder extension for Chrome, but it couldn't find the sounds, and therefore refused to work. I hear many others have had the same problem.

Then I had to install Streamlabs. But it doesn't recognize RE2 as a game, and so you would have to stream the whole screen. And the first time I tried, I just selected the recording source, but I didn't press the recording button... And the game shows up in the recording annoyingly a bit on the side, and not in the middle. My boyfriend claims that it could be due to my resolution.

And in my Leon's B-scenario, the playable character was Jill, but unfortunately Leon's voice lines were the normal ones, i.e. nothing was random. :( Well, when Leon was Ada and Jill spoke with Leon's voice, their farewell was quite interesting.

And for too much of the time, also Ada's lines were normal, even though quite many characters played her.

I also didn't manage to find the crank at all, not even from the room where it should have been according to the log. So I cheated to get it. I also hadn't found a certain key, and then by accident went from the debug menu to the morgue, and I would have needed that key to get there.

Some people say that the randomizer and the arrange mode I used are not compatible. That it could be the reason why everything was not random for me. (EDIT: the reason was that I had only installed RE2, and not RE1 and RE3 at all, d'oh. I'm sooo stupid)

But now I won't dare to venture into Raccoon City anymore without a Rocket launcher or a machine gun with infinite ammo...

Ps. In this randomizer, you can also choose the playable character. So I still need an option where you can choose Ada's performer. Then I would finally get to see Claire and Leon's love story... (edit: I got it anyway!)
