The Animals of Disney Dreamlight Valley

This post contains affiliate links.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a popular game with lots of content. I had waited for years to play it. I have now spent most of my summer playing this game, and I loved every second. I loaned the game from the library, and unfortunately the DLCs weren't included.

disney dreamlight valley game

Dreamlight Valley is a very addictive game. It was difficult for me to stop playing it. There's so much to do. After 180 hours of playtime I finally finished all the quests of the base game. Well, almost all of them.

Disney Dreamlight Valley characters

Disney has so many iconic characters, and not all of them are (yet) in the game. From the start Merlin, Mickey Mouse, Scrooge McDuck and Goofy are there. A bit later Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse and Daisy join the fun. Along the way the player unlocks more characters, biomes and realms.

What I personally hate that the Fairy Godmother is in the game, but there's no Cinderella. She happens to be my favorite Disney Princess, along with Jasmine and Belle. I'm sure she's going to be added to the game at some point. But is she gonna be free content? I doubt it.

My favorite character in the game has to be Nala. I must admit that I have never even seen The Lion King, even thought I have wanted to for literally decades. I especially want to see the original version, because there actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas is voicing young Simba. Yes, I used to be a big fan of Home Improvement

Nala in Dreamlight Valley is simply very adorable. Makes me want to see the movie. So thanks to this game I'm finally going to loan that movie from the library, luckily it's there.

disney dreamlight valley nala

Another adorable character is Frozen's Olaf, I fell in love with him too. That's yet another movie I haven't seen. I guess it would be easier to list the movies I have seen.

My favorite Disney movies are Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, and characters from those are in the game. I especially love Belle in this game, she's a quiet book nerd, just like me.

I like Scar's negative attitude towards everything.

Among my favorites is also Donald Duck, he's so funny in his anger. And yet also so polite.

disney dreamlight valley villager

But when it comes to Prince Eric... I want him for myself, so step away, Ariel. I haven't seen The Little Mermaid either.

That is one thing missing from Dreamlight Valley, romantic relationships for the playable character. I suppose it's undestandable, it would be too horrible to steal spouses of well known and iconic characters. But I got used to romance in My Time-series, and it's hard to be without.

disney dreamlight valley prince eric

I don't like the game's latest addition, Peter Pan. I have always hated his misogynistic attitude, or his attitude in general.

Dreamlight Valley's Cheshire Cat

Disney Dreamlight Valley is full of animals. From Lion King's Simba and Nala to Alice in Wonderland's Cheshire Cat. This cat is a bit quirky, and likes to cause mayhem and disappear. But I love him anyway.

Dreamlight Valley's Companion Animals

Squirrels (peanut), rabbits (carrots), turtles (seaweed), raccoons (blueberry), foxes (white sturgeon), crocodiles (lobster), sunbirds (flowers that match their feather color), ravens (5 star meals). Those are the companion animals of the base game, and listed after them are their favorite foods. You have to feed them so that they'll become your friends. Then you can choose to have them with you on your adventures. They also gather extra resources and backpack slots for you.

disney dreamlight valley turtle favorite food

There are also some special companions, such as Magic Carpet from Aladdin.

The DLCs have even more companion animals. My favorite of them is the capybara, I wished to get one.

The Premium Shop also sometimes has companions, including cats.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Trophies

This game lost me at trophies.

With better/more trophies I would have bought this game. Because of the lack of trophies I only loaned Dreamlight Valley from the library.

With implementing more/lot of trophies the game makers can only win. Every game should have at least story trophies, and a game like this could have soo many trophies. But no, Gameloft chose a different path.

Whenever I'm planning on buying a game I always check the trophies first. No platinum? Not interested. Not many trophies and/or all the trophies hard to get? I'll pass.

Still I enjoyed every second of Disney Dreamlight Valley, and wished there were even more free content to play. This is a great game for Disney fans, and for those who love cozy games.

Little Kitty, Big City: Game Review (PS5)

I had waited for a full year to play this game. And finally, on its first birthday, cat game Little Kitty, Big City came to PS5/PS4. Only as a digital version though, I haven't been able to find any information about a physical copy. When you buy it for Playstation you get both the PS4 and PS5 versions, so two games for the price of one.

Little Kitty Big City cat game

Little kitty is peacefully enjoying a nap on a windowsill, when a disaster happens. The cat falls down to the big city below. Now the kitty has to find a way back home. Along the way the cat meets other animals, and faceless humans.

I became addicted to this game. The open world area isn't that big, but there are surprisingly lot of things to do. From rescuing ducks and collecting hats to catching (and releasing!) birds, just to name a few. There are some (very easy) puzzles.

evil black cat

Ducks

Besides several cats the game has other animals aswell. One of the cutest missions is to find four ducklings and return them back to their worried father.

If you rescue the ducks before returning home, you encounter them again while climbing towards home. One strange thing about ducks is that they love water, unlike our hero little kitty.

There's another quest which requires you to bring four rubber ducks to the pond. I wondered where the pond is, but it is the same one where the real ducks have to be returned.

Climbing back home

And don't worry about returning home. Even after doing that you can keep playing the game. In fact it is even easier then, because all the collectibles will be marked on the map.

To be able to climb back home the kitty needs energy, and for that it needs to find four fish. One of them has to be stolen from a fisherman, and the last one is on a high rooftop.

Hat Simulator

In the game you can collect hats. That is one of the features I loved about Goat Simulator, and it's great to have that here aswell. You can collect hats from the environment, and buy them from vending machines.

Was this game worth the wait? Was it worth the relatively high price of over 20 euros? Oh yes. I played the game through twice, both PS5 and PS4 versions. I couldn't get enough of the little kitty's adventures.

Little Kitty, Big City Game vs. Stray

Which cat game is better? It's a matter of opinion. For me Little Kitty, Big City is the second best cat game, right after the acclaimed Stray (affiliate link). We need more great cat games like these, and I'm certainly hoping that there'll be a sequel to Little Kitty, Big City!

Little Kitty, Big City merch is available on their official store. How much I'd want this shirt below, and a certain skirt. Too bad that too many clothes have polyester (ie plastic) in them.

Cat Rescue Story: Game Review (PS5)

I had waited for a long time to get my hands on the video game Cat Rescue Story (affiliate link). It was released for PS4/PS5 on September 26, 2024. Its regular price on Playstation Store is 40 euros, which is way too much for a game that is free on mobile. So I was very happy to be able to loan this game's PS5-version from my local library.

Cat Rescue Story Pet Game

In Cat Rescue Story the player's great aunt Olivia has left them a house. (For me personally the choice of that name is rather unfortunate, since Olivia was my late cat's name. And that name is repeated in the game a lot.) Then the player's role is to clean up the house, and rescue stray cats to fill it.

At first you have to create a character. There aren't many customization options, but at least you can choose the gender of the player.

The cats need water, food and a litter box. You can pet the cats, but you also need to take care of the cats' needs. These minigames can be quite frustrating. I hated especially the grooming one. Or maybe I just didn't get the gist of the controls.

The cats need forever homes. You have to match the cats with suitable owners. You can only put the cat up for adoption if its needs are met. And do notice that there are multiple traits of the cats, and what the new owners want. The more of these you match the more points and money you get.

I wonder if it's possible to softlock yourself out of the game? If you run out of money? Because without money you can't do the minigames, and without them you can't adopt the cats. I realized the answer to my own question: You can play with the cats free of charge, and you get money from it. So you can't run out of money.

Is Cat Rescue Story worth it?

Cat Rescue Story is a very repetitive and horribly grindy game, and it's certainly not worth 40 euros. For a free mobile game it might serve its purpose, but for a costly console game no. I got tired of the minigames very fast, and eventually they even started to hurt my fingers, especially the grooming minigame. I don't know if children would like this game more than I did. I'm glad that I didn't pay any money to play this game.

I wish I could say that I enjoyed Cat Rescue Story, but no. There are more versatile and more fun cat games out there. Tip: I'd suggest you start with Annapurna's acclaimed Stray (affiliate link).

There are actually people who have played this game for so long that they have achieved all the cats, all the fur colors and all the achievements/trophies in the game. I wonder for how long would that take? For me that sounds crazy. I mean I have no life, but still I wouldn't even dream of the platinum trophy. Cat Rescue Story is so boring and repetitive. The grind and the cats to be rescued never end.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2 Endings Spoilers

I have written before about my hate for the game Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1. Compared to that I must admit that Tape 2 was a pleasant surprise.

1. It was shorter. It only took me only a couple of hours in one sitting.

2. All my dreams about a bully getting his comeuppance became true.

Quite early in Tape 2 I started wishing for something that seemed impossible: That the bully Corey would be thrown into the Abyss. I never thought that the game would take that path, but it did.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2 Endings

There are several different endings to Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2, but they all have one thing in common: In all of them Corey ends up in the Abyss. Only the way he ends up there differs.

In my ending all the four girls pushed Corey into the Abyss. It was beautiful, it was perfect. When Kat was beating up Corey and I as Swann had the option to go beat him aswell, of course I chose that option.

Already before I had stabbed Corey on the back with a knife. The knife I had been looking at for the whole game, hoping to be able to do with it just that.

But of course my ending was the worst one, because in it in the present day Swann ended up alone. Both Nora and Autum left before opening the box. Such "friends."

What was in the box?

The whole purpose to play the game through for me was to find out what is in the box. And the answer is so boring: Just some of Kat's mementos from the summer of 1995. The ones that were thrown in the Abyss. How did they get back to our reality? Who send the box? It's supposed to be Dylan, but why did she do it 27 years later?

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 3?

Some people wish for a sequel. They feel that many questions were left unanswered, and many mysteries unsolved. In my opinion revealing the mysteries often ruins everything. Some mysteries are better left as mysteries. The explanation to them might not be reasonable at all.

The Animals of Tape 2

The best part of Tape 2 for me? The Prison Break. The breaking free the deers, especially Gertie. And you even get to pet him! And the deers end up saving the girls from the bully!

And of course the cat Snowy was still there, familiar from Tape 1.

So the animals were adorable and great, and a bully got what he deserved! For me Tape 2 of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (affiliate link) was far more enjoyable than Tape 1.

The animals of Far Cry: New Dawn

Far Cry: New Dawn (affiliate link) is a first-person shooter game which continues the story of Far Cry 5. It takes place in Hope County just like the previous title. The lenght of the game is shorter than many others in the series. The release date was February 15, 2019.

In general I don't like first person shooters, I never play them alone. But like many other similar games, Far Cry: New Dawn is a lot of fun with a partner in online co-op. There is no local co-op nor split screen option.

Far Cry: New Dawn Character Customization

You can choose the gender of your playable character, and the customization options even allow you to put a beard on a female, which is always a plus. For some reason my co-op partner made his character look like Keanu Reeves.

There are many kind of animals in this game, such as cougars and chickens. And there's even a horrible trophy called Master Skinner, where you have to kill and skin every type of animal this game has to offer, including cows. I still hate myself for doing that.

The dogs of Far Cry: New Dawn

There are lot of dogs in the game, and yes you can pet them, as you can see in the image below.

There's even a side mission called Man Eat Dog World, where you'll have to pet your future gun for hire dog Timber, and break out some imprisoned dogs. Prison Break!

There's a trophy called Sidecar Sidekick involving Timber, where you have to ride with him for 5 minutes. It doesn't need to be consecutive minutes, just 5 minutes in total. But what I hate about first person shooters is that you can't really see or enjoy the view of a dog in the passenger seat.

Boars??

There's a side mission called To Love a Boar, where you'll have to save a boar named Horatio. After this mission he will be available as a gun for hire. Once you pet the boar you'll unlock the trophy Save your bacon. We did this just in time for Christmas Eve. And the joke is that in my country we eat pork at Christmas...

Far Cry New Dawn: Fly, You Fools! Trophy Guide

You first need to obtain the wingless plane, which you get after rescuing Nick Rye. After that you can access the plane from boathouses. Besides the plane you need dynamite. Throw dynamite in front of the plane and drive over it. You may need to try this a few times. To be honest it's easier to do if you have a co-op partner.

Far Cry New Dawn: Ethanol Truck

Here's a cautionary video how flammable ethanol can be.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1: Review (PS5)

Spoiler

Honestly, this game sucks.

I went into Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (affiliate link) totally blind. I didn't know what this game is about, and what kind of game it is. I only knew that it's from the same company that brought us Life is Strange, and that should have been my first warning.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1

What was my first problem with this game?

Bullies.

What this obsession with bullies? Why there always has to be bullies in Don't nod's games? But no, mean and evil bullies are there to ruin everyone's day, and life. And game. And mental health. I can't stand bullies. I have been traumatized by bullies in real life, so I need to avoid games with this theme.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Synopsis

This game is about a woman named Swann, who returns to her hometown after a long absence. Then the story goes back to the summer of 1995, when loner Swann meets new friends, while fighting against a common enemy.

Then something happened to Swann and her friends. But what? It takes forever to get to that point in the story. In fact, you never get anywhere in Tape 1.

Recording footage with Swann's video camera is a big part of the game. So if you don't enjoy that kind of game mechanic (like I don't), don't play Lost Records.

What's in the box?

The reason for the girls' reunion 27 years later is a mystery box, adressed to their punk rock band Bloom & Rage.

You won't find out what's in the box in Tape 1. So don't bother to play Lost Records until Tape 2 is released. Tape 1 is just big set up, without any reward. You don't get any answers to your questions.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage what's in the box

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Romance

What I hate about this game that it tries to force lesbian romance everywhere, and literally with everyone. Well, if all the males in the story are assholes, then that's understandable. But if you are looking for heterosexual romance, you certainly won't find it here.

I wholeheartedly recommend this game to those players who enjoy girl on girl romance, walking simulators, long and endlessly boring summer days, and so called character development without anything ever actually happening.

This game was clearly made for female audiences.

Cats in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage

Right from the start of the game cats are prominent in this game. Even the first trophy is about naming your cat. And I think that by naming the cat you also decide that cat's fur color. I named mine Snowy, and the cat is white. Just like my late cat Olivia...

You can pet the cat multiple times, and many ways. Why would Swann even ever want to leave her room, when she has her best friend there? I'd much rather spend time with Snowy, than those girls...

For story progress reasons, you have to feed the cat. You can even call the vet, but luckily there's nothing wrong with Snowy. He does look a little weird, or should I say old.

In present day, Swann has another cat, called Casper.

Besides an actual cat there are also other cat references in the game, and I loved it.

Summary

Cons

-extremely boring game

-bullies

-unpleasant all around

-forced lesbianism

Pros

-cat(s)

Stars

1/5, and that one star is only because of the cat.

I thought I'd never write these words but don't bother with Blood & Rage, go play Life is Strange (affiliate link) instead. At least there you can meet with the charming Mr. Jefferson.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1 is free to play on Playstation Plus Extra.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1 Gameplay

Warning

At least on Playstation there's a game breaking bug, which can delete your savefile. It's recommended NOT to play this game until a patch to fix this bug has been released.

And because of story reasons, I wouldn't recommend playing Tape 1 until Tape 2 has been released.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2 Release Date

April 15, 2025. Also the second part will be for free on Playstation Plus Extra.

I had absolutely no interest to pay and play the second part of the story, Tape 2. But since it's free I'm gonna have to suffer through it. If I'm still alive then.

So see you in hell (affiliate link)! (Besides the cat there's one other thing I did enjoy about this game: the song which is a curse against bullies!)
